On Saturday, March 5th, the Consulate-General of Japan in Denver and JET Alumni Association Rocky Mountain Chapter (JETAARM) will cohost the “Explore Rice～: Hinamatsuri” at the Stanley Marketplace. This is the continuation of our dog-friendly events in accordance with the Hinamatsuri tradition.

We hope this event will increase awareness and promote grassroots–level understanding about Japan, as well as further strengthen the friendly relationship between Japan and the U.S.

     Location: The Hanger at Stanley Marketplace (2501 Dallas St, Aurora, CO 80010)

     Admission: Free (Advance registration is required. Must be 21 or older to attend.)
     Registration: Monday, February 7 through Friday, February 27, 2022

• Masks are required for this event.
• Since alcohol will be served, IDs will be checked at registration.
• [For those bringing their dog(s)] With the exception of the doggie ambassadors wearing kimono, all dogs must be on a leash at all times. If your dogs do not get along with other dogs and/or people, or become nervous in noisy environments, please refrain from bringing them to the event. Also, each dog owner is fully responsible for cleaning and/or picking up after their dogs, if necessary.

[Reference Note] In Japan, March 3rd is Hinamatsuri, which is also known as Girls' Day, to commemorate the growth, happiness, and prosperity of young girls. This unique festival is celebrated differently depending on the region, but most customs include similar features like a set of Hina dolls, peach flower decorations, as well as festive foods such as hina-arare (multi-colored rice crackers) and chirashizushi (sushi rice with various toppings). In turn, May 5th is Kodomonohi, also known as Children's Day, for boys.
